For more than thirty three years, the Gospel Sound has been singing Gospel Music for churches, at fairs, festivals, school events, Nursing homes, concert halls, and hospitals. They have had the privilege of meeting thousands of people, from Seattle to San Francisco and they have enjoyed the opportunity of talking, laughing, and often praying with people from many walks of life. One of their favorite pastimes is what they call; “Dairy Queen Concerts”. As they travel from place to place, they like to take the time to sing wherever they are, be it a restaurant, a country store, a mini mart, or a McDonalds. The members of the group first met in the home of Harvey Krager in the fall of 1976, where they decided to found the group as a quartet. Today they are singing as a trio. The rest, as they say, is history. Harvey, who still sings bass and baritone for the group, hails from Sutherlin, Oregon. Dave Evans, another original member, sings tenor or lead. Dave lives along the Umpqua River, between Elkton and Sutherlin, Oregon. Myran Oberman sings lead or tenor for the group. Myran was lead singer for the “The Reflections” for several years before joining the Gospel Sound in 1993. Myran is from Oakland, Oregon. The Gospel Sound is very thankful to have Shane Powell as their sound engineer. Shane lives in Sutherlin, Oregon. He has the unenviable task of creating a proper musical mix for the audience, whether in a small country church or in a large auditorium. The Gospel Sound has produced five albums in the thirty years of singing: “Sharing Christ in Song”, “Walking With Jesus”, “On Holy Ground”, "Accapella Favorites", and their latest; “New Shoes”. Each of the guys are active members of their home churches, which represent several different denominations. Even though this may have stimulated some interesting conversations over the years, they remain focused on their motto, “Sharing Christ In Song”, and their truly contagious joy of singing.
